'You have to accept me
on my terms
Not yours
If you truly care
You have to accept me
For what I am
And not
What you want me to be’

There are always two ways of looking at a picture; you can call a glass of water either half filled or half empty, you can either highlight the beautiful rose or emphasize the prickly thorns……….it really is up to you!

This is not meant to be a condemnation of a recently published venomous article about the gurus of our fashion industry (the publication may call it a light piece all to be taken in a good spirit for a laugh or two, but it was in bad taste nonetheless); nor is it in defense of the celebrities and how they choose to live their private lives; This is just an attempt to put things as they are, to state the factual state of affairs and put the record straight about the relationship between the various components of the glitzy world of the fashion industry.

The first and foremost thing in this respect is that the fashion industry does not comprise a single or a couple of persons only; from designers to make up artists to models to photographers, visualizers to choreographers to the publication people….. it is one big persona each part of which is inter dependant and cannot survive on its own. It also calls for a mutual respect and regard for each other which includes knowing each others good or bad traits and accepting them as part of the personality. It certainly does not mean making fun of anyone just because he/she happens to have a so called peculiar trait which is an absolutely personal and very private matter. After all, these great masters of their respective departments are not famous for the peculiar traits that some people choose to highlight. No, the world acknowledges and bows to them for the magnificent work that they have produced and by virtue of which they continue to bring the country a very prestigious name and international acclaim.

And there is another dimension of the whole matter as well. Man is man because of the mixture of good and bad in his persona. No man can be all good as that would raise him to the pedestal of an angel; likewise, no man can be absolutely bad as that would render him the status of the devil. So man remains man, who is an amalgam of good, bad and not-so-good and not-so-bad traits. That is a universally accepted truth. In the light of this truth, may we ask what right does one man have to point a finger toward any other man? (Remember when you point a finger at someone, the remaining three point back at you!) It is as simple as the question of who is going to pelt the first stone at the sinner; the one who is not guilty of a single misdeed in his entire life, is the simplest of the answer, and can we boast to be that one person? I think not.

So while trying to uncover some hidden matter (which may or may not be true) about the great masters of glamour industry, let's not forget we, the publication people also form part of the same set-up as they do and (whether we like it or not) are heavily inter dependant on each other for sustenance and survival. And wouldn't it be a bit insensible to unveil a part of your very own self, by yourself?

So, there are two ways of looking at a picture; you can call the glass of water half empty, or half filled; you can highlight the beautiful rose or emphasize the prickly thorns…………it really is up to you!

We at 'Guys 'n Galz' choose to take in the picture as it is, i.e. in absolute totality, with all its pros and cons, giving equal importance to all factors and giving respect to all for what they are and whom they choose to be. We choose to take in the glass of water as a glass of water; we choose to take in the beautiful rose along with its prickly thorns!

What choice would you make? Like we said earlier, that is entirely up to you…………………!
